As a newbie to motorbiking (passed my test in October 2025 and bought a brand new BMW F900 XR this May), I was keen to get an expert opinion on how good (or bad) my riding was - I’m very conscious that it’s easy to get into lot of trouble on a big bike if you don’t know what you’re doing.
Paul greeted us in a professional manner, introduced himself and his history of bike training and work (police) He did a very thorough document checks. He got our history as well and then explained how he would run the session, he would stay behind both of us and we would take turns leading. We had comms so it was easy for him to guide us and coach from behind where appropriate. I had a great day out.
Great to see you again today. I always enjoy your company.

I wanted to write a quick review of my RoSPA riding assessment day with Paul Mostyn. I’ve done some assessment rides with the IAM and this one was just as enjoyable, a bit like being out with a mate enjoying some incredible roads. After a stop at another lovely location for a cake and a coffee, we started on our route back. Again, amazing roads. If anyone is apprehensive about doing this, please don’t be. It’s just a day out with a like-minded person on some amazing roads. Thoroughly enjoyable and a big thank you for Paul for your time and friendly advice!

After a small accident on my motorbike I decided to give Paul a ring as my confidence had been knocked back a bit, after just a 3 hour fantastic ride out with Paul, I couldn’t of asked for more, he’s given me the confidence back, thank you for making me realise I’m actually not too bad at this motorbike riding thing.
It was great. Paul was fantastic with clearly a huge wealth of knowledge and experience but delivered it in a really human and practical way. Didn't feel like I made mistakes, just opportunities to try new things. I now no longer ride in the gutter! Riding with him (I thought he was one of my panniers at times!), was confidence inspiring and I learned a lot.

Well - I have been thinking about it very hard and honestly can't think of any suggestions for ways to make the experience better. It was absolutely first rate - quite definitely the best day of motorcycle training that I have ever had. Brilliant roads and a perfectly judged, calm and friendly teaching style, that allowed me to relax and ride well. So a huge thank you from me. I honestly hope we get the opportunity to it again one day.
Meeting Paul was probably the best thing I’ve done for myself and my biking, – along with a relaxing hypnotherapy session for the gravel.
I have been riding with Paul for almost 15 years. In the early years the focus was on improving my overall skills on 2 wheels including observation, positioning and hazard identification.
Perfect way for me to review my standards and techniques and take away a few things to focus on. After my 3-hour session I did feel better equipped to cope with the challenges I might face.Highly recommended to anyone thinking about how their riding might be and needing structured feedback.
